Default Starting at GvGing

So, how the hell do you get started at GvG? After having played countless matches in RA/TA training kiting, weapon swapping, rupting, timing spikes, and watching obs when I'm taking a break away from it, how do I take that last step into competetive gvg. Aka, how the hell do I find a guild that wants me?

I know that many of the higher-end players want more players and guilds to join the scene, but I think I speak for many would-be PvP'ers who wanna get into it but simply can't due to steep requirements from the gvg guilds or there being no gvg guilds at all.

How do we get started?

improving your social links with people in the gvg community is equally important to improving your skill and knowledge in gvg in general

first step would probably be to either find a beginning gvg guild recruiting with not many requirements here on guru, or on teamquitter.com

usually you'll outgrow the first few guilds you join because you'll generally become better than a lot of players who will stagnate at all levels, if you continue to improve yourself, so just keep building up your friendslist with better and better players, guest for better teams, etc., and just work your way up while constantly building upon your knowledge of the game

EDIT: and if all else fails, pretend to be a girl

If they require you to talk and you don't have a very girly voice, get one of your friends who is a girl to talk for you.

It has worked for some in the past and I hear they even got some fantastic cyber out of it.

I don't have a hard time making friends, so that sounds good :P

But guess I'll look for some random, semi-casual guild to start off with.

Btw, last time I rolled a female char, the first whisper was like "Hey im bryan. U wanna cyber?" Mind you, it was shing jea, but I ain't doing that again.

Like, "Hey, Maria, can you come over to my house tonight? I need you to cyber with some strangers."

Finding a guild is the way to go. You'll probably have to start off with a BYOB guild that grinds weekends, but you should get good enough fast enough to do some casual GvG.

If you want to get into hardcore GvG, good luck. I don't even think the mAT guilds are all that into it anymore.

Selling vent recordings of my voice. 10K for each phrase/sentence. :]

On a serious note! Talking to people is probably the best way to improve and get gvg friends. I think kisu is a good starting guild. You get to play with a mix of decent players from top guilds and people who are inexperienced.

http://teamlove.us/ is the link to KiSu, I'm more than happy to answer any gvg questions you have, or explain anything. (map/strategies etc) :]

That is pretty much what you have to do unless you already know someone within the community. If you have no ties into GvG atm you have to make some, and starting off casually is how you do it. Just try to make yourself noticed without annoying people.

Pro tip: when you find a guild to play with, if you're a few players short, message people from top guilds and ask them to guest. You might find this hard to believe, but more times than not they are willing to come guest and even help tell you what works better, what you're good at and what your team needs to improve on.

Well, how I got started with the GvG scene was just in a regular PvE guild, and I volunteered for doing some GvG over weekends. I built up a friendlists with some of the good GvGers, played with them, joined guilds with them, worked my way up to top 500, but they quit :/. I've GvGed maybe 3 or 4 times since, with BYOB.

Basically, build up a strong friendlist and it'll take you far.

Make sure you mention who you are/what your guild is. I very rarely answered randoms who asked me to guest, or I would always decline. Make sure if they do guest, you actively be asking ask for help. Not all people are willing to tell you what you need to improve on and it can leave a bad image.

You should be asking questions, and having them explain things you don't understand, and explaining what works for you.

You don't, the format followed HA's trend and went downhill. I wouldn't recommend anyone to get into GvG right now.
